Foreword

Hi! Thanks for checking out this game. To be transparent, this game is in it's early stages. The main point of me putting it out in this state is to get feedback on the game's concept. There will be placeholder assets, poor collision and unstable sounds. I will take feedback from this stage going forward in the game design, and I appreciate any feedback I can get.

Thank you again, and I hope you have fun!

Running the Game:

The game should run in the browser, but if it doesn't you can download the zipped folder.

Extract the file and run the "Derelict Salvager" exe or shortcut. You can freely move the shortcut, but the exe needs to be in the same folder as the .pck fil.

Don't forget to check out the manual for more information!

Controls

Map:

General controls: Left click on an object in space to select it. Right click to move one item at a time. Esc to close open menus.

Click on the shop to open it.

It opens on the upgrade menu where you can upgrade your max health or move speed in exchange for money. Bear in mind move speed affects only your movement, not how fast you perform actions.

Click on the shop button to open the buying/selling section. Here you can buy items, although atm the only useful thing is health hypos. Click on an item to transfer the entire stack to the cart, or right click to transfer one item. Once you're happy with your selection, click buy to purchase everything in your cart. Don't worry: you can leave the menu and your cart will be returned to the shop.

You can click on the sell, and the inventory on the left represents your inventory. It functions much like buying. Bear in mind you sell items at half their value.

Click on a ship to open its details in the upper right. So far all it lists is it's name, size and whether you've already visited it. Click the board button to board the ship.

Finally click the Next System button to move to the next system. This essentially creates new ships to explore. You can theoretically play this game infinetely.

Ship Boarding

General Controls:

Left Click: Move to position/default interaction with objects/open menu to attack enemy.

Right Click: Open context menu on objects/ Close context menu on ground

Mouse 3: Rotate camera

Alt: Toggle Turn mode.

Space: Toggle pause.

WASD: Move camera

ESC: Open pause menu/ Close open menu

I: Toggle inventory.

CTRL: Stop movement

]: Reset camera rotation

Enter: End Turn.

This view represents your character exploring the ship. You can leave by clicking on and reaching the red pillar in the starting room. Look for brown chests in other rooms which contain loot. Left click, or right click and select open, to automatically move to and interact with them. You can then transfer items to your inventory, or even store items there. Just remember you only keep what's in your inventory.

You can use items in your inventory by opening it with i or clicking on the button. So far the only useable item is health hypos, and you have to be injured to use them. Items take some time to use.

Watch out for the enemies patrolling. If they see you, they'll start the game in turn based mode and attack. You can left or right click to open the menu to see how much damage you'll deal. Click on the range toggle to see the range of your weapon: Enemies within the first circle take full damage, and as they get closer to the outer circle they take less damage. You can reload your weapon, although it takes time to do so it doesn't cost ammo (yet).

You can press ALT to turn on turn mode. It will also trigger if you attack or (on the enemy's turn) if you get spotted during realtime. In turn based mode you are able to move for 6 seconds before enemy's get to move, making it good for sneaking or ambushing. You can go back to real time mode by pressing ALT again, but only if you have 6 seconds of time left in your turn.

The combat log on the right displays things like you or enemies taking damage. If it gets too full you can reset it with the clear button. When enemies die they drop a satchel with loot you can take. If you die, you return to the system map.
