Hell Bar ( Made To Be Played 2026 Gamejam)
Made as part of Made To Be Played Game Jam in 10 days.
Hi! I'm Toasty. I made all the artwork and did all the programming on my own. Various sounds were used which are credited below.
Controls
Left click to pick up drinks from the shelf or the silver tumbler on the bar. Right click to drop them.
Click on the tumbler while holding drinks to add them to the tumbler. Click on the sink with the tumbler to empty it. Click on customers with the tumbler to serve them the drink.
Premise
Check the order screen at the bottom for what a customer wants. Mix it in the tumbler, then serve it to them. The recipe doesn't need to precise: as long as it at least contains the ingredients in the recipe the customer will be happy. Example: Screwdriver is Orange, orange, vodka. Customer will accept Orange, orange, orange, vodka, rum. Cause it still has two orange and vodka in it. They don't care.
Customers come up, order drinks and you serve them. I wanted to do a simple bar game, and here it is. I had ideas to have upgrades you could purchase with money you get from getting orders right but I've run out of time.
The premise of the game jam was Toxic, so I went fairly straightforward: alcohol. The patrons you serve seem to be monsters of some kind so I guess you could argue they fit the theme as well. I just drew them that way because it's fun!
The game was partly inspired by Wasteland Bites, a game where you run a food truck in a nuclear wasteland. The way of creating drinks and the customer's designs were partly inspired by it. I'd recommend it if you like this kind of game.
I'm not affiliated I just think it's neat!
The game is set up to be quite scalable: I can add new drinks and recipes pretty quickly in the code. As you can see by the bar sprite I planned to have more drinks. XD. Oh well.
Why "Hell Bar"? I wanted a title screen that had a neon sign where a faded letter spelled a new word. Couldn't think of anything so "Hello Bar" it is. Does this take place in hell? Is that why there's monsters. Shrugs. I'm not good at drawing humans.
There's a sprite on the menu that doesn't appear in game. It was supposed to be your boss, and was going to give you a quick tutorial but that fell away due to time.
I think i got the bones of a project here anyway. If anything I mostly just entered for the practice, and to put something out there. Hope you thought the game was interesting!

And to you the player, or something else sufficiently cheesy.
Known Issues
* When adding drinks to the tumbler, sometimes it adds two drinks at once.
* Customers won't check if the recipe is exactly right, only that it contains the recipe. This was partly to avoid the above bug forcing people to dump out the tumbler when it added twice as much to it.
* Quitting the game just crashes the browser. Whoops. Reload the page if this happens.

Do literally anything as long as A) don't just try to sell the unmodified game for profit (who would pay for this anyway?) and B) Give credit to me. A quick link to the itch page suffices.
